On Good Friday, Jerry was on his way to the US. Why of all days, on a Good Friday? That's a long story. And in answer to that, he flew because he just had to. Ok, that's how much I'm willing to say as yet. Haha Boo.

At St. Louis, his old-time friend, Marcel, whisked him for a 5 hour drive to Memphis to see another friend, Nonie.

No, Jerry is not trying to abscond from any obligation, if that ever crossed your mind. He is not wanted by the BIR or NBI for anything. But just the same, I'm saving you from the long and mind-boggling story why Jerry had to fly to the US in a huff. Hehehe.

With that said, let me just share with you some pictures he sent me through email.

Perhaps you didn't know that... ***

* Memphis is the Pork Barbecue Capital of the World.
* Memphis is the home of the first Greyhound and Continental Trailways bus lines.
* Memphis is home to FedEx, the world's largest overnight package delivery company.
* Some other Memphis celebrities include Academy Award-winning actress Kathy Bates, Cybill Shepherd, Michael Jeter, Tim McCarver. Other current or former area residents include: Dixie Carter, Rick Dees, Wink Martindale, Peter Taylor, Morgan Freeman, George Hamilton, Aretha Franklin, Pat Kerr Tigrett, Dana Buchman, Shelby Foote and Justin Timberlake.
* Memphis is the site for some of the more intriguing films of the past few years: "The Firm" starring Tom Cruise, "The Client" starring Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones, "The Rainmaker" from director Francis Ford Coppola, "A Family Thing" with James Earl Jones and Robert Duvall, "The People vs. Larry Flynt," and "The Road to Graceland" starring Harvey Keittel.
* Volney, the lion who roared at the beginning of all the old MGM movies, lived at the Memphis Zoo until his death in 1944.

Hah, now you know!

Today is Maundy Thursday and as part of the observance of Holy Week, we spent the whole morning in Redemptorist Church to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, pray the Rosary, novena and the Way of the Cross. As a family, together with Mamarazzi, we were in church armed with our list of sins, rosary chains and prayer books. With fervent desire to lead upright and God-fearing lives, we pray to be cleansed from all sins (both of commission and omission).

We had an unexpected expense this week when Jerry paid for the repair of the computer today. After days of being unable to load some applications properly (hence the absence of my posts), the computer has finally gotten a new lease on life. Yey! I have banned Jake for the time being after he accidentally tapped on something and corrupted one of the drivers. Hmm, those chubby little fingers of his proved deadly for our desktop. Heheh!

Mamarazzi is still in town. She had an extended vacation in Cebu to care for our Great Granny, Lola Meding. On her invitation, Jerry, Matt & I, went to Great Granny's place for some native snacks... We had suman (sticky rice), mangga (ripe mango) and tablea (tsokolate/chocolate) - a welcome change (and savings too!) from the usual coffee and pastry we normally have from the mall.

Off the record, we had 3 pieces of suman, a whole mango, and a cup of tsokolate each. With good food and good company, it's quite tough keeping the unwanted pounds away. *Groan*

Last Sunday was perfect for a trip to our favorite beach. It was made perfect even more with everything falling into place as scheduled. This is the last of my 3-series image-intensive posts. The best set of pics is here. I hope they all load fast on your connection. Have fun y'all!

It was fabulously fun! We started the day with Zia swimming in Tuscania with cousins (except for Jake), having lunch at Isla Foods, getting worried for Mama as we drove to the mountain and took hairpin curves to Mountain View, and enjoying a great Chinese dinner at Big Mao. I hope you all have fast connections as this entry is image intensive. Go have a look-see...
