IT'S JERRY I SEE IN TENNESSEE!
|
|
On Good Friday, Jerry was on his way to the US. Why of all days, on a Good Friday? That's a long story. And in answer to that, he flew because he just had to. Ok, that's how much I'm willing to say as yet. Haha Boo.
At St. Louis, his old-time friend, Marcel, whisked him for a 5 hour drive to Memphis to see another friend, Nonie.
No, Jerry is not trying to abscond from any obligation, if that ever crossed your mind. He is not wanted by the BIR or NBI for anything. But just the same, I'm saving you from the long and mind-boggling story why Jerry had to fly to the US in a huff. Hehehe.
With that said, let me just share with you some pictures he sent me through email.
Ta!
Perhaps you didn't know that... ***

HOLY THURSDAY
|
|
Today is Maundy Thursday and as part of the observance of Holy Week, we spent the whole morning in Redemptorist Church to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, pray the Rosary, novena and the Way of the Cross. As a family, together with Mamarazzi, we were in church armed with our list of sins, rosary chains and prayer books. With fervent desire to lead upright and God-fearing lives, we pray to be cleansed from all sins (both of commission and omission).

MANGGA, SUMAN AT TSOKOLATE
|
|
We had an unexpected expense this week when Jerry paid for the repair of the computer today. After days of being unable to load some applications properly (hence the absence of my posts), the computer has finally gotten a new lease on life. Yey! I have banned Jake for the time being after he accidentally tapped on something and corrupted one of the drivers. Hmm, those chubby little fingers of his proved deadly for our desktop. Heheh!
Mamarazzi is still in town. She had an extended vacation in Cebu to care for our Great Granny, Lola Meding. On her invitation, Jerry, Matt & I, went to Great Granny's place for some native snacks... We had suman (sticky rice), mangga (ripe mango) and tablea (tsokolate/chocolate) - a welcome change (and savings too!) from the usual coffee and pastry we normally have from the mall.
Off the record, we had 3 pieces of suman, a whole mango, and a cup of tsokolate each. With good food and good company, it's quite tough keeping the unwanted pounds away. *Groan*

FLASHBACK - SATURDAY FUN DAY
|
|
It was fabulously fun! We started the day with Zia swimming in Tuscania with cousins (except for Jake), having lunch at Isla Foods, getting worried for Mama as we drove to the mountain and took hairpin curves to Mountain View, and enjoying a great Chinese dinner at Big Mao. I hope you all have fast connections as this entry is image intensive. Go have a look-see...

FLASHBACK - JAKE'S 1st BIRTHDAY
|
|

Row 1 - Actually taken last Thursday night when Jake went with Jerry and me to the airport to get the visitors from Manila. That's Jake and Zia facing off for the first time.
Row 2 - Shot at the Redemptorist Church after the 7AM mass that we heard for Jake's first birthday.
Row 3 - The customary Chinese birthday miswa and eggs with native chicken...
Row 4 - Feeding Jake a little bit of the birthday miswa and eggs.
Row 5 - The giant rice cake for stepping on. I forgot the actual Chinese term for this one...
Row 6 - Jake steps on the giant rice cake. This symbolizes growing up to be a good person.
Row 7 - Jake surveys the objects on the table: books, ladle, money, candy, calculator. He chooses the calculator just like Matt and Kyle. Then he follows it up with the coins/money.
Row 8 - Jake socializes with A-ma after the "ceremonies".
Row 9 - Moms with their young...
Row 10 - Exclusively Zia
Row 11 - Paparazzi d' Great wowing 'em kids and kids at heart with his magic tricks.
Row 12 - Jake didn't feel like blowing out his candle or posing for the camera... He must have been tired at 10 PM.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUNNIE!
|
|
Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city.
George Burns (1896 - 1996)
Yup that is so true. We feel a deep longing for loved-ones who are regions and continents away, and even more so on very special occasions.
Heirlooms we don't have in our family. But stories we've got.
Rose Cherin
Family stories, we have A LOT! And every time we recount these happy memories, itâ??s just like reliving each moment again.
The family is the country of the heart.
Giuseppe Mazzini (1805 - 1872)
â?¦Not Canada, not the Philippines or even Cebu.
The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.
Richard Bach, Illusions [1977]
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUNNIE! You know how much we love you and the boys truly adore you!!! May the good Lord continue to bless you with all the best in life!

THE DEAFENING SOUND OF SILENCE
|
|
Well, of course that's an exaggeration. Our house will never be dead calm especially with three active boys around. But these days, the house has been quiet save for the occasional question and answer sessions, after dinner, as the boys reviewed.
Matt & Kyle are reviewing for their exams while their brother Jake is taking a nap amid the preparation for his birthday.

SUBCONJUNCTIVAL HEMORRHAGE
|
|
Jake was playing with a few toys last Sunday when he gave out a loud yelp. From the sound of his cry, I knew something hurt him. So it took me a split second from the living room to get to the masters bedroom where he was. Jerry was inside looking after him, but didn't exactly see what happened.
I noticed his left eye looking bloodshot and irritated. Apparently he was playing with the balloon pump or something and accidentally poked his eye with it or with his fingers. The whole day of Sunday, it was red so we short-messaged his pediatrician for first aid. For safety, she referred us to Dr. Cajita, the same eye doctor we saw when Jake was only 3-weeks old.
Dr. Cajita saw Jake yesterday. He did a few tests to see the alignment of the pupils and to check on the redness. This was what he had to say in his note to our pediatrician...
| Quote: | Dear Dr. Diaz,
Thanks for sending back Jake. He has mild subconjunctival hemorrhage. It will spontaneously resolve. No need to treat.
Regards,
Vic |
NO NEED TO TREAT. What a relief! We thank God that it was just that and no damage was made to Jake's eyesight. Whew!
