Bitter Pill

"Do I really have to?..."
"Bleechhh, this is bitter!"
"...but vitamins are always good for my health."
Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet. Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC)

I've been a working mom since the early days of my marriage. I enjoy doing what I'm trained to do - Finance & Administration. From way back, it seemed like this was my destiny and I believe it is indeed my calling.

Having worked with big companies in consulting, retail and telecommunications, I have earned a lot and have met a lot of different personalities. Most of my colleagues became my good friends and still are to this day. Work has become my comfort zone, my home away from home.

But lately, the situation at the workplace has made me rethink my priorities. The job I have come to love has now become a major pain in the *** all because of one person.

A few days ago, Jerry and I were presented with an opportunity that's too good to pass up. If I step back and try to look at the bigger picture, I think this is God's way of telling me there's something better ahead.

I am presently in limbo thinking of the many "what if's". Maybe this is the bitter pill I have to take for me to appreciate the better things in the horizon...

Some People are Just Mean!

"Hey! Don't be rude!"
On several occasions, I have found myself being the object of rude comments or those with sleazy undertones. (Blame it on my looks? Nah!). Being the refined person that I am (that I'd like to believe), I ignore these unwelcome remarks like I brush off imaginary dust bunnies from my office wardrobe. I see no point making a big issue of such offenses. I'm not out to change everyone else's misdemeanor.

However, I pity some colleagues of mine who happen to be at the center of the (new) boss' critical opinion of them. He has this unbelievable delusion that he's the best person in the team and everyone else is dispensable, fat, ugly, slow, lazy or gay. He thinks that if you're not with him or don't have the same views as him, or you're too old, too highly-paid, too fat, too ugly, too slow, too lazy, you might as well look for another job.

What a schmuck!

Rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength. ---Eric Hoffer (1902 - 1983)

In God's Perfect Time

Jake in his brothers' room
"It's nice up here on A-hia's bed..."
"Uh, who dangled that ball from the fan?"
I received a text message from Ma today (yes Junnie, the same one you forwarded to me all the way from Toronto ) that said something like her prayers for us are still awaiting answers. The word she used was actually the word "pending" meaning "in anticipation of". And topping the list is my sis' safe delivery of her first baby anytime this week. Then comes the fruition of Junnie's pursuit of a Canadian work experience. Following closely is Jerry's future involvement (could be read as employment) with an international org based in the US.

We are all eagerly awaiting for these things to materialize with Pa and Ma storming the heavens everyday with their petitions and Jerry and I saying countless novenas to St. Expeditus.

Perhaps God has all these things lined up for us, or not, who knows. What we do know is everything happens in His perfect time.

Ma with Paparazzi
They say that man is mighty He governs land and sea, He wields a mighty scepter O'er lesser powers than he But mightier power and stronger Man from his throne has hurled For the hand that rocks the cradle Is the hand that rules the world

Happiness, good health, and prosperity to you Ma!
